About This Committee

The research community has a responsibility to ensure that the treatment of human participants in research meets the highest ethical standards. If the proposed research activity involves human participants and may contribute, through publication, presentation, or dissemination to "generalizable knowledge", then the activity requires review and approval by the UCR Human Research Review Board (HRRB) before any recruitment or research involving human participants may begin. HRRB review and approval is required for all research projects involving human participants, regardless of: 1) whether the project is funded or not, 2) the source of the funds, if funded or 3) the level of risk posed to participants.
