Overview
This seminar is intended to help de-mystify the application and review process, clarify Federal regulations and policies, and highlight current areas of special interest or concern. The seminar serves the NIH mission of providing education and training for the next generation of biomedical and behavioral scientist. NIH policy, grants management, review and program staff provide a broad array of expertise and encourage personal interaction between themselves and seminar participants.
The NIH eRA Commons is an on-line connection to NIH for information on pending applications and awarded grants as well as a gateway for the electronic facilitation of many routine business processes. An overview of the eRA systems will be covered in the Regional Seminar itself and an eRA booth will be staffed throughout the two-day seminar to answer questions, but for those who prefer a hands-on orientation to computer systems we are offering a 2 ½ hr computer lab on Friday June 2 following the Seminar on the UCR campus. The lab will be held in the morning and repeated in the afternoon. There is an additional fee for these labs. Space is limited.
The labs will cover NIH eRA Commons administration activities such as creating accounts, maintaining account information and reviewing and updating institutional and personal profile information. The computer workshops will also cover such activities as submitting Just In Time information, and initiating an eSNAP (electronic simplified non-competing application progress report. . Instructors will offer “tips and hints” for effective system use and will discuss upcoming system updates. The workshops will be informative for both PIs and administrative personnel. Please select either the morning or afternoon session, which are both the same. There is a limit of 60 participants for each lab.
